YOUTH
Zest Youth Ministry – “The sweeter side of a sour world”
Founded on 1 Timothy 4:12, which reads: “Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith, and in purity”, St Thomas More Monavoni’s youth ministry hopes to mould young people who take courage as they challenge the status quo.
The parish’s youth ministry is open to all youngsters up to the age of 29; this group of vibrant believers walk the path of being Catholic, opinionated, talented, and purpose-driven.
Led by an experienced executive committee, the youth group is active in the activities and structures of the Archdiocese of Pretoria.
Some of our regular youth activities:
- Morning Zest Breakfast – A series of breakfast sessions with influential Catholics from all walks of life. These sessions focus on areas of life that impact the lives of young people.
- Annual Zest Youth Camp – A fun-filled camp for all youth of the parish which aims to bridge the gap between faith and reality.
- Youth and Academic Mass – Led and prepared by the youth of the Parish.
- Archdiocesan and Deanery events – These include Youth Day celebrations, sports days, concerts, socials, and other fundraisers.
- World Youth Day – A global pilgrimage of prayer and celebration with the pope, bishops, priests, religious and youth from all over the world.
- Mini World Youth Day – A national pilgrimage of prayer and celebration with the local cardinal, bishops, priests, religious and youth from all over the Southern Africa Catholic Bishop’s Conference.
- Social Responsibility Projects – As identified by active youth.
- Lenten Movie Nights – Screening of a movie on the death and resurrection of Christ during Lent.
